Hull
Maynard Agency History
Hull
Maynard arrived in Rutland July 1, 1962. For sixteen years he
was a partner in the former Jones-Maynard Agency.
In 1978 he formed the present Agency. After a brief stay at the
Service Building, we have occupied 105 Center Street, next to
the Park and across from the Rutland Fire Station.
The
Agency has always divided its sales equally between personal homes,
autos, life, health and commercial property, liability, workers
compensation and other business insurance. In addition we have
resources to meet demands for Long Term Care, Life and Disability
and Health insurance policies.
We
have represented Travelers Insurance Company since 1978 as well
as 10 or more regional companies all these 22 years.
There
is only one difference by which to measure insurance agencies.
We all sell for reputable companies. Hull Maynard Agency prides
itself on the service we provide our customers. Whether it is
patiently explaining the arcane language of a particular policy,
searching for the most economical policy, or, assuring us that
each claim is settled promptly and fairly. . we want each customer
to have a certain comfort level knowing they can call us anytime
with questions and problems.
We
recognize the importance of automation to our Agencyˆs success
and to that end we are up to date with both hardware and software.
This ever changing and expensive investment will be the future
key to building market share and profitability.
The U.S. Mail will be used less and less. Applications and policies
will be completed and forwarded to companies by FAX and e-mail.
Sometimes they will be completed by the customer on their home
computer and electronically forwarded through our Agency to the
companies.
On
July 1, 1999 the Agency purchased the Clinton Thomas Insurance
Agency. It had been in existence since 1923. During those years
it had acquired other agencies. First the Wimett Agency of Pittsford,
then Bove-McGinnis of Rutland, and Ralph Stafford Agency of Wallingford
were purchased. The Stafford Agency had its own office next to
the Hart Memorial Library that we continue to operate.
The insurance agency business is ever changing. Many of you reading
this have probably heard that banks will be selling insurance
some day. What you may not have heard is that insurance agencies
can provide home equity, car and personal loans. We can provide
those services at very competitive rates.
In
conclusion, the service sector of the insurance and financial
worlds can and should remain local and personal. It is your local
agent at claim time that works behind the scenes to assure you
of quality and timely settlements for losses to homes, businesses,
autos and other property.
